One of China’s largest smartphone brands received 2.8 million preorders for its new phone just one day after reservations opened, before the pricing was released.
On Tuesday, Huawei will unveil the Mate XT trifold smartphone during an event in China. By the time of publishing, about 3 million people had expressed interest in Huawei’s online sales platform, which offers the phone in two colours.

Huawei’s forthcoming event will follow Apple’s fall Glowtime event, at which the iPhone 16 and other items are likely to be announced.
Huawei’s new Mate XT trifold phone will go on sale on September 20, with pricing information expected to be released at Tuesday’s launch. The corporation may also unveil its new line of electrified vehicles.

Huawei did not immediately respond to the story. The success of the Mate XT’s preorders and timing indicate that Huawei is positioning itself as a formidable challenger to Apple, which has been battling with dwindling consumer interest in China—a major market that accounted for roughly 17% of its sales until late June.
