According to Khaleej Times,
The minimum amount to top up Nol cards via ticket vending machines in Dubai Metro stations will increase to Dh20, starting March 1, the city’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Tuesday.
Previously, motorists could top up their Nol cards for a minimum of Dh5 at ticket vending machines.
The minimum top-up amount differs on the basis of where you are recharging your card. In 2024, the RTA increased the minimum top up price at metro ticket offices to Dh50 from an earlier price of Dh20.
To travel, motorists must have a minimum balance of Dh7.5 on any Nol card.
There are four types of Nol passes offered to commuters using the metro — silver, gold, personal cards and the red ticket pass.

Nol cards are an easy way to pay for commuting around the city. Last December, RTA announced that residents who use its accredited e-scooters to get around Dubai can start using their Nol cards to pay for them, in an effort to promote a cashless economy.

Apart from transport services, there are many other ways to use Nol cards for payments to get some non-transport RTA services as these cards can buy groceries at some supermarkets and pay for food at some restaurants.
The RTA also allows users to personalise their cards and avail many benefits through the upgrade, which range from earning points that can be used for countless amenities to blocking a card in case it gets lost.
