A road trip to Oman this Eid Al Fitr break is not only a relaxing idea but also a budget-friendly alternative to flying to other destinations.
Fortunately, expatriates in the UAE and other GCC countries can get a visa on arrival, and crossing the border is fairly straightforward – as long as you’re familiar with the necessary rules.
To ensure a smooth journey, here’s everything you need to know about visa and car insurance requirements for driving to Oman.
Visa Requirements for UAE Residents Driving to Oman
According to GulfNews, “You don’t need to apply for a visa ahead of time. UAE residents can obtain a visa on arrival, which allows a stay of up to 14 days in Oman,”. Someone said to GulfNews.
If you plan to stay longer, you’ll need to apply for an eVisa beforehand, which grants a 30-day stay in Oman.

However, the eVisa process typically takes four to five working days for approval. For shorter trips, a 14-day visa on arrival is available at the UAE-Oman border.
