Microsoft’s New Tool Eases Windows 11 Upgrade

Microsoft is still struggling to fix several emergency update issues in Windows 11, with the latest problem involving the KB5063060 update. This update is failing to install for many users, especially gamers, and is showing error codes like 0x800f0922, 0x80070002, 0x80070306, and 0x800f0991. While users can uninstall the update or wait for a fix, it’s part of a bigger issue — millions of people are still using Windows 10.

With just over 100 days left before Windows 10 support ends, Microsoft is under pressure to help users make the move to Windows 11. The number of upgrades had slowed down recently, but there are signs it’s picking up again this month.

To make the transition easier, Microsoft recently confirmed a new feature: a PC-to-PC migration tool that allows users to transfer their files and settings during the setup of a new computer. This feature is part of the Windows Backup tool and is being gradually rolled out. It’s especially helpful for the more than 240 million users who can’t upgrade to Windows 11 because their current devices don’t meet hardware requirements — they’ll need to move to new PCs instead.

This migration tool, although hidden for now, is already present in Windows 10 Build 19045.6029 and can be activated using a specific feature ID (56242779). While it’s still in testing and not ready for regular users yet, it’s expected to become widely available soon.

In short, for those still on Windows 10, Microsoft is finally offering a smoother way to move everything to a new Windows 11 PC — just in time before support for the older version ends.
