Samsung may dominate the Android phone market by 2024,but it’s lagging behind in embracing the most recent Android 15 version. While Google has already released Android 15 for Pixel devices, OnePlus has confirmed the release of its customised version, OxygenOS 15, at an online event on October 24.
What’s new in Android 15?
Android 15 does not have many graphic improvements on it, instead it focusing mainly on theft prevention and security updates. AI-powered theft detection can lock your phone if it detects suspicious activity, making it more difficult for criminals to access personal information. Furthermore, new authentication requirements prevent users from readily turning off Find My Device or resetting stolen phones, with the goal of reducing theft over time.

OxygenOS 15 is fast and intelligent
With new AI technologies and features, it touts OxygenOS 15 as its most user-friendly release yet. Sleek design will keep the company’s distinctive Quick & Smooth experience. OnePlus is behind most other manufacturers in terms of AI integration, but OxygenOS 15 seems to buck that trend.
Which OnePlus phones will receive it?
While the full list of devices has yet to be disclosed, the OnePlus 12 is anticipated to be the first to receive OxygenOS 15, with the OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Open, and Nord 4 following shortly thereafter.

Samsung’s delay frustrates users
Meanwhile, Samsung fans may be unhappy because the company has delayed the introduction of One UI 7, the Android 15 version, until January 2025. Galaxy owners may have to wait longer for new features as Samsung focusses on improving its customizations.
In the race for Android 15, OnePlus has stolen the lead, and it remains to be seen whether Samsung’s polished approach will pay off when it does come.
