The Islamic New Year break follows shortly after the extended Eid Al Adha holidays that residents celebrated earlier in June.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has confirmed that the holiday applies to all private sector employees across the UAE.
The Islamic, or Hijri, calendar follows the lunar cycle, with the New Year starting on the first day of Muharram, its first month.
This date aligns with the UAE Cabinet’s approved list of official holidays for 2025.
