Meta has announced its latest advancements in artificial intelligence, introducing AI-powered wearables that merge mixed reality (interaction of physical and virtual world) and AI to enhance user experiences and Arabic language support, specifically tailored for the MENA region.

Meta’s latest AI-powered wearables “bring together mixed reality and augmented reality in an affordable, lightweight, and balanced design,” stated Nicola Mendelsohn, Head of the Global Business Group at Meta.
She described the seamless experience these devices offer, allowing users to engage with virtual objects naturally. “Imagine playing a virtual piano on your table — it sounds crazy, but it truly feels real,” she said.
Meta AI has also expanded with Arabic language support. “On February 3, we proudly introduced Meta AI to the Middle East and North Africa region, making it more accessible for millions,” Mendelsohn stated.
She emphasised the importance of open-source AI, aligning with the UAE’s commitment to technological transparency and accessibility. “Open-source AI levels the playing field, allowing more countries to compete in the global economy,” she added.

Meta is also working on AI-driven voice translations for content creators. “This feature will seamlessly dub and lip-sync reels into different languages, making content instantly accessible to new global audiences,” she revealed.
Discussing AI’s impact on content creation and business transformation, she highlighted its growing role in advertising. “Almost all of our advertisers now use at least one of our Meta Advantage products, and we’re seeing strong returns globally,” she noted. “More than 4 million advertisers are leveraging our generative AI tools to create different variations of their ads, enhancing creativity while reducing costs.”

She hinted at a future where AI-powered wearables integrate deeper into daily life. “Eventually, Meta AI will see what you see, hear what you hear, and take actions based on your surroundings. If you spot a phone number on a board and ask AI to keep the number, it can scan it and store it for you” she explained.
The expert emphasised the transformative power of AI and the UAE’s role in pioneering technological advancements. “Over the last 20 years, I’ve been a regular visitor to this beautiful country, witnessing the incredible progress. The UAE has always embraced bold visions for technology,” she said.
Reflecting on the country’s leadership in AI, Mendelsohn recalled a key milestone. “I remember the appointment in 2017 of Omar Sultan Al Olama, the world’s first Minister of AI. This country is no stranger to groundbreaking moments, and today marks another exciting chapter in its visionary leadership.”
